FAQ
Most mass produced candles are made from paraffin wax, a derivative of petroleum, which contributes to greenhouse gas emissions. Soy wax is made from a renewable resource (soybeans) and offers an alternative that doesn't rely on fossil fuels.
Additionally, the burning of paraffin wax releases small amounts of toxins like formaldehyde, acetone, benzene, and tuolene into the air. Burning soy wax produces substantially fewer VOCs than paraffin wax. Soy candles also emit less soot than paraffin for a cleaner burn.
Please be aware that the burning of any candle, regardless of wax type, releases combustion byproducts into the air. Moderation and proper ventilation are key to maintaining good indoor air quality.
We currently only offer shipping within the contiguous United States. If feasible, we hope to offer shipping to Hawaii and Alaska in the future, however we recognize that shipping heavy items long distances when locally made alternatives are readily available is not a sustainable practice.
While we do not currently accept returns, we will replace any product that arrives damaged. Please email us at glocandlery@gmail.com to request a replacement.
So glad you asked!
To remove old wax from a jar, place your candle on a baking sheet and set it inside a 200º oven (or toaster oven) until the wax is melted, about 5-10 minutes. With oven mitts, carefully remove the jar and discard the melted wax. Wait a few minutes until the jar is cool enough to handle and wipe out the remaining wax with paper towels. Carefully remove the wick tab with a pair of blunt pliers, then clean off any remaining wax residue using rubbing alcohol on a paper towel.
Email us at glocandlery@gmail.com! We love to hear customer suggestions, and your input might just make its way into a future fragrance.
We use fragrance oils from a variety of US-based suppliers. Fragrance oils are a combination of essential oils, synthetic aroma chemicals, solvents, and diluents. We rely on synthetic fragrance aromas because they are formulated under strict standards to be safe for burning and perform consistently, whereas many essential oils are not suitable for burning.
We understand that many customers are interested in candles scented with purely natural scents, however, so we are working on a limited collection of candles fragranced only with essential oils. Check back for new releases in 2026.
Prices for candles sold online factor in additional costs, such as packing materials and shipping boxes. Shipping boxes and materials were carefully selected to protect your candles while minimizing the use of non-recyclable matter.
